Gigandipus hei

Taxonomy
Chonglongpus hei was named by Yang and Yang (1987). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is CFZW46, 47, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Wu Ma Cun, site A (Rice cleaning), which is in an Aalenian/Bajocian terrestrial sandstone in the Xintiangou Formation of China.

It was recombined as Gigandipus hei by Lockley et al. (2013), Li and Zhang (2017) and Xing et al. (2021).

L. Xing et al. 2021A large-sized functionally tridactyl, tetradactyl footprint with a relatively strong medially-directed hallux trace and pes length/width ratio of 1.2, the length/width ratio for the anterior triangle is 0.39. Tridactyl portion of footprint sub-symmetrical with a divarication angle between traces of digits II and III about equal to the angle between digits III and IV. Step about 2.4 times footprint length.
