Taxonomy
Katosira smithiana was named by Longstaff (1933). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Dykes, Kilbirnie, which is in a Brigantian carbonate limestone/mudstone in the Lower Limestone Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Pseudozygopleura smithiana by Wagner (2023).

J. D. Longstaff 1933Shell elongated, composed of about twelve moderately convex whorls. Protoconch small. Sutures oblique. Surface covered by almost vertical, narrow sigmoidal ribs, crossed by exceedingly fine spiral lines which are stronger on the base. Body-whorl somewhat produced, the flattening below giving rise to a subangularity. Aperture elongated ovoid, columella slightly oblique, inner lip reflected on the body-whorl.
