Taxonomy
Thaerodonta dignata was named by Wang (1949). Its type specimen is SUI 1888b, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Clermont, which is in a Richmondian marine shale in the Scales Formation of Iowa.
It was recombined as Eochonetes dignata by Bauer and Stigall (2016).
