Lophallomys atavus
Taxonomy
Plesispermophilus atavus was named by Schmidt-Kittler and Vianey-Liaud (1979). Its type specimen is BSP MÖ 20 1975-XXII-13, a set of teeth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Möhren 20, which is in a MP 21 fissure fill horizon in Germany. It is the type species of Lophallomys.
It was recombined as Lophallomys atavus by Vianey-Liaud and Schmid (2009).
