Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
C.W. Wright and W.J. Kennedy 1990Macroconchs are 70 to 85 mm in diameter, microconchs 45 to 60 mm. Coiling is, very evolute; whorl breadth is the same as or slightly greater than whorl height. ,The costal whorl section is normally more or less flat-sided with a generally even arch from the inner ventrolateral position. To a diameter ofabout 15 mm primary ribs bear sharp umbilical and inner ventrolateral tubercles; the one or two intercalatories have inner ventrolaterals only; all ribs bear weaker outer ventrolateral and siphonal tubercles. Beyond this size in most specimens the siphonals and ventrolaterals disappear at varying diameters but the umbilicals generally remain strong; slight ventrolateral and siphonal angulation may persist almost to the end of the body chamber. Some individuals however are hypernodose and retain strong tuberculation throughout (Pl. 56, fig. 6; P1. 57, fig. 8)
