Ostrea multicostata was named by Deshayes (1832) [DISTRIBUTION: Middle Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Crassostrea multicostata by Glibert and Van de Poel (1965); it was recombined as Ostrea (Turkostrea) multicostata by Strougo (1976) and Glibert (1985); it was recombined as Cubitostrea multicostata by Jeffery and Tracey (1997).
