Amalda bellovaciana was named by Pacaud et al. (2013). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.A33822, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Trosly-Breuil, Oise (Pacaud collection), which is in a Ypresian coastal horizon in France.
