Griffithidella alternata
Taxonomy
Proetus roundyi alternatus was named by Girty (1926). Its type specimen is USNM 3524-3526 and is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Griffithidella depressus alternatus by Hessler (1965); it was recombined as Griffithidella (Griffithidella) depressa alternata by Hahn and Hahn (1970); it was recombined as Griffithidella alternata by Brezinski (1998); it was recombined as Griffithidella alternatus by Wagner (2020).

D. K. Brezinski 1998 | Pygidium outline semicircular, moderately vaulted with low relief to surface features. Axis rounded in transverse profile with indistinct shoulders, arched in longitudinal profile, extending to posterior border, composed of 10 to 11 rings. Rings broad, ring furrows shallow, narrow, straight, sharp. Pleural fields evenly convex, with pleural and interpleural furrows narrow, distinct, extending to border, but not onto it. Seven ribs evenly divided into two bands of near equal width. Border furrow shallow to indistinct, border broad, convex, of nearly equal width around entire pygidial margin. |
