Dunbar and Skinner (1931) selected a type series of specimens (syntypes or cotypes) to represent their concept of Polydiexodina shumardi. The syntypes are deposited in the Invertebrate Paleontology Division, Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History in New Haven, CT under the following catalogue numbers: YPM IP 20881-20884, 25670-25671, 50048.
