Taxonomy
Sciuroides russelli was named by Hartenberger and Louis (1976). Its type specimen is GRI969, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grisolles, which is in a Bartonian mire/swamp limestone in the Calcaire de Saint-Ouen Formation of France.
