Taxonomy
Palaeotherium pomeli was named by Franzen (1968). Its type specimen is NMB Cst-157, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is La Badayre, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial horizon in the Castrais Formation of France.
