Taxonomy
Palaeotherium siderolithicum was named by Pictet and Humbert (1869). Its type specimen is MGL 636/1644, a maxilla, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mormont Eclepens, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial horizon in Switzerland.
