Faxetrochus problematicus was named by Schnetler and Lozouet (2012). Its type specimen is MGUH 29810 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Faxe quarry (GMC collection), which is in a Danian marine limestone in Denmark. It is the type species of Faxetrochus.
