Tienshaniscus was named by Liu and Wang (1978) [Sepkoski's age data: P u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Tienshaniscus longipterus.

It was assigned to Palaeonisciformes by Sepkoski (2002).
