Diplograptus austrodentatus was named by Harris and Keble (1932).

It was recombined as Glyptograptus austrodentatus by Dover et al. (1980); it was recombined as Oelandograptus austrodentatus by Ortega et al. (1991); it was recombined as Undulograptus austrodentatus by Mitchell and Maletz (1995); it was recombined as Levisograptus austrodentatus by Maletz (2011).
