Diplograptus (Glyptograptus) angustus was named by Perner (1895).

It was recombined as Climacograptus angustus by Bjerreskov (1975); it was recombined as Scalarigraptus angustus by Riva (1988); it was recombined as Normalograptus angustus by Koren and Melchin (2000) and Pålsson (2002).
