Taxonomy
Plectorhynchella was named by Cooper and Muir-Wood (1951) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fame C Tour Sepkoski's reference number: 25,538]. It is the type genus of Plectorhynchellinae, Plectorhynchellidae.

It was assigned to Brachiopoda by Schroeder and Leleshus (2002); to Plectorhynchellinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Rhynchonellida by Sepkoski (2002).

Synonyms
  • Monticola was named by Nalivkin (1930).

    It was synonymized subjectively with Plectorhynchella by Rozman (1961).
