Taxonomy
Climacograptus supernus was named by Elles and Wood (1906) [= Appendispinograptus hvalross (Ross & Berry) sensu Mu 2002 et al., pp. 670, 671, pl. 185, fig. 8.].

It was recombined as Climacograptus longispinus supernus by Melchin (1987); it was recombined as Appendispinograptus supernus by Chen et al. (2005) and Storch et al. (2011).
