Taxonomy
Chaetocnemistoptera electra was named by Brues (1939). Its type specimen is MCZ 7869, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber (MCZ collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Chaetopleurophora electra by Brown (1999); it was recombined as Hypocera electra by Brown (2007).
