Taxonomy
Armadillidium payangadensis was named by Srivastava et al. (2006). Its type specimen is BSIP 38375 and is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Payangadi Clay Mines, which is in a Burdigalian terrestrial amber in the Warkalli Formation of India.
