Taxonomy
Thambites oxynotus was named by Arkell (1952). Its type specimen is SM F10733, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 49, Khashm Dhibi area (Aramco S-1046), which is in a Bathonian carbonate limestone in the Dhruma Formation of Saudi Arabia.
