Taxonomy
Micromphalites vertebralis was named by Arkell (1952). Its type specimen is SM F10797, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 18, Juraifa area (Aramco S-1484/1499), which is in a Bathonian carbonate limestone in the Dhruma Formation of Saudi Arabia.
