Taxonomy
Ammonites hirschi was named by Laube (1869). Its type specimen is GBA 1882/003/0058, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Klipsteinia hirschi by von Mojsisovics (1882); it was recombined as Muensterites hirschi by Urlichs (2017).
