Taxonomy
Dissacus europaeus was named by Lemoine (1891). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cernay, which is in a Thanetian terrestrial horizon in the Conglomérat de Cernay Formation of France.

F. Solé et al. 2018Smallest and sole European Dissacus species recorded in the Paleocene. It differs from the other European species by the presence of large diastemata between the p1, p2, and p3; less retroflexed protoconid on p3 and p4; very shallow distal reentrant grooves on p3, p4, and molars; less developed entoconid on the talonid of p4 and molars; relatively longer m3; more developed cingula on molars; and less mesially located protocone on M2. It also differs from Ypresian D. filholi and D. blayaci in having a relatively sharper protoconid on molars, and from D. rougierae by more developed lingual cingula but less developed labial cingulum on molars
