Taxonomy
Dissacus blayaci was named by Stehlin (1926). Its type specimen is UM/MPT01, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mas de Piquet, which is in a Ypresian terrestrial horizon in France.

F. Solé et al. 2018Large Dissacus species that differs from D. europaeus and D. rougierae by the presence of a wider talonid on p4 and molars, and of a well-developed entoconid on p4 and molars. It differs from D. europaeus, D. raslanloubatieri, and D. rougierae in having a lower but longer protoconid, more exodaenodont premolars and molars, and a more reduced m3. It differs from D. filholi by its larger size (38%) and from D. progressus by its smaller size (D. progressus is 25% larger).
