Perleidus was named by de Alessandri (1910) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen Tr Carn Sepkoski's reference number: 916]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Colobodontidae by Martin (1982) and Cartanyà (1999); to Perleidiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Perleididae by Lehman (1952), Beltan (1968), Beltan (1972), Schaeffer and Mangus (1976), Beltan (1984) and Lombardo et al. (2011).
It was assigned to Colobodontidae by Martin (1982) and Cartanyà (1999); to Perleidiformes by Sepkoski (2002); and to Perleididae by Lehman (1952), Beltan (1968), Beltan (1972), Schaeffer and Mangus (1976), Beltan (1984) and Lombardo et al. (2011).
