Taxonomy
Eurypterus hankeni was named by Tetlie (2006). Its type specimen is PMO 169425, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sønsterud farm, Ringerike, which is in a Sheinwoodian marginal marine siltstone in the Steinsfjorden Formation of Norway.
