Oistodus nevadensis was named by Ethington and Schumacher (1969).

It was recombined as Belodella nevadensis by Bergstrom (1978); it was recombined as Ansella nevadensis by Fåhrzus and Hunter (1985) and Stouge and Rasmussen (1996).
