Drepanodus altipes was named by Hennigsmoen (1948).
It was synonymized subjectively with Acodus similaris by Igo and Koike (1967); it was recombined as Scabbardella altipes by Orchard (1980), Stouge and Rasmussen (1996) and Ferretti and Schönlaub (2001).
