Taxonomy
Ammonites carachtheis was named by Zeuschner (1846). It is the type species of Haploceras (Hypolissoceras).

It was recombined as Glochiceras (Lingulaticeras) carachtheis by Schlegelmilch (1994); it was recombined as Haploceras (Hypoglochiceras) carachtheis by Zeiss et al. (1994); it was recombined as Haploceras (Haploceras) carachtheis by Grigore (2018); it was recombined as Hypolissoceras carachtheis by Vašíček et al. (2023).
