Anomia pecten was named by Linnaeus (1758). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Schuchertella pecten by Northrop (1939); it was recombined as Fardenia (Schuchertella) pecten by Lawson (1955); it was recombined as Chilidiopsis pecten by Boucot (1959); it was recombined as Fardenia pecten by Shergold and Shirley (1968); it was recombined as Coolinia pecten by Brunton and Cocks (1967), Bassett and Cocks (1974), Cocks (1979), Havlicek and Storch (1990) and Rubel (2011).
