Taxonomy
Ovivagina propinqua was named by Zhang (1997). Its type specimen is 93-SC-25/K1, an elytra, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Shichang, Shawan County, which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian fluvial sandstone in the Badaowan Formation of China.
It was recombined as Artematopodites propinquus by Yan and Zhang (2010).
