Taxonomy
Astacus longimanus was named by Sowerby (1826). It is the type species of Hoploparia.
It was recombined as Homarus longimanus by van Straelen (1936); it was recombined as Hoploparia longimana by Bell (1863), Rathbun (1926), Collins (1969), Schweitzer et al. (2008), Schweitzer et al. (2009), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Feldmann et al. (2016).
