Petrochelys kyrgyzensis
Taxonomy
Trionyx kyrgyzensis was named by Nessov (1995). Its type specimen is CCMGE 186/12458, a partial skeleton (isolated left xiphiplastron, associated shell fragments, a partial skull and a lower jaw), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kylodzhun I, which is in an Albian/Albian fluvial-lacustrine claystone in the Alamyshik Formation of Kyrgyzstan.
It was recombined as Kuhnemys kyrgyzensis by Chkhikvadze (1999); it was recombined as Petrochelys kyrgyzensis by Georgalis and Joyce (2017) and Vitek et al. (2017).
