Taxonomy
Gissarites iljini was named by Khakimov (1976). Its type specimen is SMTSSR 33/1168 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bulgari, Vakhshskiy Range, which is in a Campanian marine horizon in the Sarykamshskiy Formation of Tajikistan.
