Taxonomy
Glyptorthis splendens was named by Cocks (2014). Its type specimen is BC 60079, a valve (counterpart internal & external mould of ventral valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Track to old quarry in Lime Kiln Wood, 400 m north of Robeston Wathen Church, which is in a Rawtheyan carbonate mudstone in the Slade and Redhill Mudstone Formation of the United Kingdom.
