Taxonomy
Properrinites gigantus was named by Zhou (2017). Its type specimen is NIGP 94472, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Liuzhai, Nandan County, which is in an Asselian carbonate limestone in the Maping Formation of China.
