Taxonomy
Adapis ulmensis was named by Schmidt-Kittler (1971). Its type specimen is BSPG.1968 VII 967, a tooth (isolated M/1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ehrenstein 1, which is in a MP 19 fissure fill horizon in Germany.
It was recombined as Protoadapis ulmensis by Schmidt-Kittler (1977); it was considered a nomen dubium by Godinot (1998); it was recombined as Vectipithex ulmensis by Hooker and Harrison (2008).
