Lamprohiza was named by Motschulsky (1853). It is extant. It is the type genus of Lamprohizini.

It was assigned to Lamprohizini by Kazantsev (2010); to Lampyridae by Fanti (2017); and to Lamprohizinae by Martin et al. (2019).
