Taxonomy
Scomberesox edwardsi was named by Jordan and Gilbert (1919). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Elysian Park, which is in a Miocene marine shale in the Modelo Formation of California.

It was recombined as Scomberesox (Scomberessus) edwardsi by David (1943).
