Paralichthys antiquus
Taxonomy
Hippoglossus antiquus was named by Jordan (1924). Its type specimen is Stanford University Paleontology Type Collection 603 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lompoc Quarry, which is in a Tortonian basinal (siliciclastic) diatomite in the Monterey Formation of California.
It was recombined as Vorator antiquus by Jordan (1925); it was recombined as Paralichthys (Vorator) antiquus by David (1943); it was recombined as Paralichthys antiquus by Fierstine et al. (2012).
