Taxonomy
Strophomena semiglobosa was named by Davidson (1871). Its type specimen is B13642 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Megastrophia (Protomegastrophia) semiglobosa by Bassett (1971) and Bassett and Cocks (1974); it was recombined as Stropheodonta semiglobosa by Manten (1971); it was recombined as Protomegastrophia semiglobosa by Baarli et al. (1999).
