Leptaena haueri was named by Barrande (1848).

It was recombined as Strophomena haueri by Siemiradzki (1906); it was recombined as Strophonella haueri by Havlicek (1967); it was recombined as Strophonella (Quasistrophonella) haueri by Harper and Boucot (1978).
