Lachnopus serraticrus was named by Poinar and Legalov (2017). Its type specimen is Poinar 14, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Poinar coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
