Haniwa dactyloides was named by Guo and Duan (1978). It is not extant. It is the type species of Sunocavia, Cavia.
It was recombined as Cavia dactyloides by Sun (1993); it was recombined as Sunocavia dactyloides by Özdikmen (2009).
