Taxonomy

Belenopyge was named by Pek and Vanek (1991). It is not extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Lobopyge by Jell and Adrain (2002).

It was assigned to Lichidae by Özdikmen (2009); and to Trochurinae by Morzadec et al. (2015).

Synonyms

Lobopyge was named by Přibyl and Erben (1952) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov-u D Eife Sepkoski's reference number: 774]. Its type is Lichas branikensis.

It was reranked as Acanthopyge (Lobopyge) by Thomas and Holloway (1988) and Ebach and Ahyong (2001); it was replaced with Belenopyge by Özdikmen (2009).

It was assigned to Acanthopyginae by Přibyl and Erben (1952); to Acanthopyge by Thomas and Holloway (1988) and Ebach and Ahyong (2001); to Lichidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Lichida by Sepkoski (2002).
