Taxonomy
Lichas branikensis was named by Barrande (1872). It is the type species of Lobopyge.
It was recombined as Euarges branikensis by Phleger (1937); it was recombined as Lobopyge (Lobopyge) branikensis by Přibyl and Erben (1952); it was recombined as Acanthopyge (Lobopyge) brankiensis by Ebach and Ahyong (2001); it was recombined as Lobopyge branikensis by Jell and Adrain (2002); it was recombined as Acanthopyge (Lobopyge) branikensis by Ebach (2002).
