Pseudobirmanites was named by Li (1978). It is not extant. Its type is Pseudobirmanites leiboensis.

It was synonymized subjectively with Madygenia by Jell and Adrain (2002).

It was assigned to Rorringtoniidae by Özdikmen (2009).
