Taxonomy
Cybium macropomum was named by Agassiz (1833). Its type specimen is MNHN PTE 10 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Scombrinus macropomus by Casier (1966); it was recombined as Duplexdens macropomum by Monsch (2004).
