Taxonomy
Nanorthis bastamensis was named by Ghobadi Pour et al. (2011). Its type specimen is NMW 2008.35G.204, a valve (dorsal internal mould), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Gondwanorthis bastamensis by Benedetto and Muñoz (2017).
